Tariff Cut by US Signals Malaysia’s Rising Global Credibility, Nga Affirms


PETALING JAYA: Commenting on the reduction of tariffs on Malaysian exports to the united States, Nga Kor Ming (pic) believes that the reduction to 19% signifies international trust of Putrajaya’s economic management and diplomacy.

The Minister of Housing and Local Government Fuad Zarkasi believes that the new tariff rates reaffirm Malaysia’s standing as an effective trustworthy economic partner, which demonstrates the optimization of Malaysian diplomacy.

We thank them for this development which we consider as a reduction of the negative perception of the trade governance policy reform strategies of the country and the economic governance plus their efforts in equitable and trade relations.

Nga who is also the head of the President of the UN-Habitat Assembly.- which sets policy directions on Sustainable Urban Development, Housing and Human Settlements, appreciate the bilateral negotiations that the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry under the sustained leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He stated that the new trade policies currently being discussed will benefit various industries, most notably the construction and the manufacturing sector.

Nga stated that in 2024, Malaysian exports of furniture, lighting, illuminated signage, and prefabricated building materials to the US was estimated at US$1.55 billion (or approximately RM7 billion).

Nga mentioned that there were  furniture, lighting signs and prefabricated building materials exports to the USA worth USD 1,55 bil (app RM 7 bil) in 2024.

He mentioned that there is enough information on the Lower tariffs supporting the notion that construction materials and tech which are cheaper would be more readily available which is more than adequate on the goal of building advanced, more environment-friendly, and livable houses, and cities around the world.

Nga noted with appreciation the statement made by Anwar on the futuristic agenda of the 47th Asean Summit which includes the visit by US president D. Trump to Kuala Lumpur planned on October.
